Becoming a resident of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis opens the door to a flexible lifestyle in one of the Caribbean’s most picturesque jurisdictions, and serves as an appealing alternative to the Citizenship by Investment programme. At Nevis Style Realty, while we do not handle residency applications directly, we partner with experienced professional service providers who can assist with the submission of your application. Our role is to support you in acquiring or renting the appropriate property, and we can guide you in locating real estate that qualifies for permanent residency.
You may apply under one of three primary residency categories: Temporary, Annual or Permanent. Please note that Temporary Residency does not confer the right to work in the Federation. Applications for Temporary and Annual Residency on Nevis are typically handled via the Premier’s Ministry, while on St. Kitts the Ministry of National Security processes all residency types.

Temporary Residency expires on December 31st of each year. Renewals for the upcoming year are accepted between the period October to December. A late application fee of $100 is applicable to applications for renewals after the expiry date of the previously approved residency.
Temporary Residency offers a streamlined way to enjoy island life without a long-term commitment. This option is open to individuals who own or rent property in the Federation but do not intend to work locally. Eligible applicants include retired expatriates, spouses of Temporary, Annual or Permanent Residency holders, and children under 18 who are physically challenged and not engaged in schooling.
Key requirements include: original or notarised copies of all documents (with certified translations if not in English), a valid TB test (12 months) and RPR/VDRL result (6 months). The annual fee is ECD $1,500 (or ECD $750 for a term of 6 months or less).
Note: Temporary Residency expires on December 31 each year; renewals must be filed between October and December, with a late fee applicable after expiry.

Annual Residency expires on December 31st of each year. Renewals for the upcoming year are accepted between the period October to December. A late application fee of $100 is applicable to applications for renewals after the expiry date of the previously approved residency.
For those who wish to live and work in St. Kitts and Nevis, Annual Residency provides a wider scope of activity than a standard work permit. It grants the right to work in any business rather than being tied to a single employer. Annual Residency is available to expatriates, the spouses of current Residency holders, and children under 18 who are physically challenged and not attending school.
The document submission requirements match those for Temporary Residency (original/notarised, translations if necessary; valid TB and RPR/VDRL tests). The annual fee is ECD $1,500 (or ECD $750 for 6 months or less). The term ends December 31 each year; renewal applications must be submitted between October and December, subject to a late fee if filed beyond the expiry date.

Permanent Residency offers long-term stability in the Federation and is available to non-nationals who either participate in the Retirement Programme or who have owned a qualifying home for a minimum of seven years. The minimum investment for eligible homeowners is US $350,000. Search for homes between $350K - $1M
While Permanent Residency permits residence, it is generally not tied to employment rights unless specified. Eligible applicants include retired expatriates, spouses of Permanent Residency holders, and children under 18 who are physically challenged and not in school.
Documents must be original or notarised, translations provided if necessary; valid TB test (12 months), and RPR/VDRL result (6 months).
A one-time fee of ECD $4,800 applies, plus a US $200 application fee. Once approved, applicants receive a letter granting the status, and passport stamping arrangements follow.
