IMPORTING PETS TO NEVIS
The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis is a rabies free country therefore requiring that pet owners follow a strict protocol to bring a pet to the islands. The attached document lists the procedures to follow in orderto get your pets on island without difficulties.
On arrival, the Government Vet will have to meet you at your point of entry to examine the pet, read its microchip and check that all paper work is in good order.

PET FOOD
The local supermarkets stock several commercial brands of pet food including Pedigree, Beneful, Alpo, etc… A variety of treats and toys are also available.
Ross University in St Kitts operates a small shop from a container and sells Hill’s Diet for cats and dogs. It is open 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a few hours). Please note that a prescription from one of the University’s vets is required to purchase food for your pet.

VETERINARY SERVICES

Government Services:
Limited services are available on island at the Government Offices in Prospect Estate. Dr Ambrose James runs the clinic with the assistance of senior veterinarian Dr Pat Bartlette.
The clinic is opened Monday to Friday but it is recommended to call before stopping by as the vet and his team are often in the fields. Every Tuesday morning, the clinic runs a spay and neuter session for cats and dogs.

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine:
Located in St Kitts, Ross University offers full-fledged veterinary services with an animal clinic opened all year round. Students assisted by qualified, professional veterinarians help in establishing diagnosis. Animal surgeons, acupuncturists are available and an emergency service is also provided.
Ross University has the only animal dedicated pharmacy as well as a food store.
The regular clinic is opened Monday to Friday from 08:00am to 05:00pm. It is closed during school holidays. The emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without interruption.
