Processing of driving licences take place in the same office where the VAT is paid. Obtaining a permanent driving licence is quite easy. The first step is to collect three temporary licences which you usually get when you rent a car on vacations or when you start living in Nevis and drive your own vehicle. With this three temporary licences, the police station will deliver you a certificate. Armed with this certificate, a valid passport or a birth certificate, a valid social security card if applicable and the necessary form (See attached), your driving licence will be processed on site. An ID picture will be taken and you will receive a credit card size driving licence. Please note that it is compulsory to provide your blood type as it will feature on the licence.
Cost for a permanent driving licence: EC$
Cost for the renewal of a driving licence: EC$
Cost for a temporary licence: EC$ 62.50(for 3 months) and EC$ 125.00 (for 1 year)
NB: Make sure that your shoulders are covered on the day you visit to have your picture taken.

A single ticket to or from Charlestown is EC$25.00/ EC$30.00. A EC$1.00 port tax is to be paid prior to departure. Journey takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Cades Bay (Nevis) to Major’s Bay (St Kitts) and return:
There is only one company running boats between the narrowest points in Nevis and St Kitts; The Seabridge. The boat carries both vehicles and passengers and runs from 07:00am to 07:00pm daily. Schedule can be found on the websites listed above.
It takes 15 to 20 minutes to go across. Price for a single journey ticket is EC$20.00. Price for vehicles vary according to the size of the vehicle.
The Seabridge takes about 15 cars and loads vehicles on first come, first serve basis. Reservations cannot be made ahead.
